Elegant Lady

A splash of sun on the other side of barb wire. My neighbor?s peaches are ripe! I hear the thump of stilts; the chatter of pickers as the pouches swell beneath their breasts. A mother snaps her checkered cloth before covering the market table; a big sister soothes a crying babe.

This is beautiful, and the more so for the touch of menace with the barb wire separating the poet from the pickers.

Beautiful, a glorious gloom hues these lines !

    Life of a peach
    Life of a rose
    Life of people
    Behind a barb wire
But all migrated by rays of light to a sensitive mind, mind of a poet!

Gosh, so much going on in this. A whole narrative to be imagined. Love it.
