on the table
where the book sat
a clean spot

About the author: ellis clay, gypsykid at gmail dot com

I've been writing and studying haiku since 1992. I've self-produced a few of my own collections of haiku, most recently 'ku' in 2000, and 'nine haiku: winterness' this past winter. I am currently working on a collection of one-line haiku to be completed by this summer.

    Thoroughly enjoyed this --
a familiar picture at my home!
It led me along various trails of thought...

    through the window
    a whiff of violets
    my dust-cloth falls

    frantic search
    for my missing notebook
    vacancy sign

    if only i could:
    on the table, this winter
    pour out my heart

    i enjoyed this senryu...
& then i wondered about the word "spot". a spot is a tiny thing - was it a tiny book you were reading? perhaps a book not much bigger than a haiku?

    DEAR ELLIS,

    NICE ONE.

    on those childhood spots
that still call out to me
    - tall buildings
