Repetition (in this case, the word "rippled") is a tricky thing in poetry--especially haiku, since they're so short. However, I think you pull it off beautifully. :)

    Dear Hortense-

enjoyed the sound, movement, & colors of this poem,
so honest, vivid, real & "beyond."

    Sincerely,

    Gene

    continuing to rain
    dreary wintry day
    her tears after the loss
    -
    so cold the day
    endless rain-
    extinguished the sun

Thank you very much. My mother, Enola M. Borgh, died peacefully on Friday. She would have been 87 on January 26.

BEYOND...no more suffering...and still with us

    As always, poetry heals
