from the east
rain moving in,

to the fond memory of--mary cosgrave--a good friend who loved the ocean and now sails the cosmos.

    sailing the trade winds--
    her star dust

To reach honesty and freshness, I take out any words which get in the way. There can be a nice tension if there is a balance between two disconnected ideas or images.

Keep your senses open. This poem came from an experience I had as a pallbearer.
