passing clouds
he slips glass bangles
over my wrist

—Kala Ramesh

After my brief visit to Hyderabad - a city in Central India, famous for its delicate glass bangles and its many bangle sellers!

About the author: Kala Ramesh is a performing vocalist in Indian Classical music. Coming from an extremely artistic and culturally rich South Indian family, Kala believes -- as her father is fond of saying -- that "the soil has to be fertile for the plant to bloom" and feels that she owes this poetic streak in her to her mother. A proud mother of two young adults, Kala lives with her husband in Pune, India.

    Kala,
You used the word -delicate- in your intro.
_In 12 syllables, you'e painted an overcoming sense of -delicate-. _M

I love the resonance between the visual aspects of the glass and clouds, as well as that (and all that's suggested by it!) of the wrist-slipping and those quick-passing clouds. A very full verse, Kala, which clearly shows (if anyone needed proof) how thoroughly you have mastered this form.

    Best wishes
    Norman

Dear Nina, Alan, Angelika & Magyar,
Many thanks for your generous responses!

Bob - I noted your 'Charminar' - that's the place I got these bangles- you beat me every time with your precise knowledge of India!
And, Norman I'll treasure your words for life.
    Thank you.
    Warmly,
    Kala
