alien sighting
my brother palms
a cicada skin

This piece was inspired by my little brother. He is seven years old, and sometimes accompanies me on nature walks.

    So well presented, Laurence!
... the walk is the teacher, and the seeing of -that- which was -previously- unseen... . This, a heartening reminder that these casual nature walks do still occur.

I like the way "alien" opens up in a number of directions.

I couldn't put the comments better.

Just want to say, what a great starting line, and then to bring it back to earth, so many levels just in this.

    Superb haiku!

What a vivid childhood memory this revives - when my young brother drops a cicada shell on my nose, while I drowse on a sunny afternoon in the park. Alien indeed - and that is my brother. The cicadas, I love.
