Thankfully my own birth mother, a few years back, was keen to see me, and I was able to put any thoughts of guilt out of her mind. Although I always knew I was adopted as my adoptive parents told me from the very start. Sadly though, I found out that my birth mother was still keen to see photos each year and they stopped when I was eight. I didn't know they were in contact with her, and I wish I had been able to see her earlier. At least I got to meet her and stay over, and spend more time with my half-sister! I live in England, and my mom lived just outside Perth, Western Australia.

It's always good to see a few haiku make use of a seasonal/nature reference now and then, that remind us that both hokku and Shiki helped launch the new genre, but that we get a sneak look back. ;-)

We can get the visual that this is late afternoon/early evening perhaps, as the blood moon in the U.K. was in January this year (2019) and Winter.

The middle line gives us that sharp abrupt visceral sound of being rejected, and the last line makes me worry that several doors have shut in the past. If this is a method of biographical material that is not the author, I can only hope, know John's job, that the person is having fewer and fewer doors shut in his or her face.

If this is autobiographical, and not faction or fictive, this is really tough, if this is about an incident back in January 2019, only barely four months ago. I was fortunate enough to meet a fostered guy who could have so easily have gone repeatedly into prison. Instead, due to his foster parents, and himself, he's now a youth leader, and a superb one as he can relate and has endless patience.
