Ken Sawitri was born in Blora, Central Java, Indonesia, and completed her degree in psychology at the Universitas Indonesia. She was a Psychology & Education editor of "Ayahbunda" magazine (1995-1998). She feels blessed writing haiku for Japan daily newspapers ("Asahi Shimbun", "Mainichi Shimbun"), and television (NHK Haiku Masters). Her haiku has been chosen being haiga by Ron C. Moss ("A Hundred Gourds", 2015). In 2016, one of her haiku was chosen to be published in "Haiku 2016, 100 notable haiku from 2015" (Scott Metz & Lee Gurga (Eds.), 2016, Modern Haiku Press). Her haiku about animal suffering has been published in "Every Chicken, Cow, Fish and Frog: Animal Rights Haiku" edited by Robert Epstein and Miriam Wald (2016). She dedicated her haiku for her motherland in "Listen, The Spice Whispers, haiku from Indonesian archipelago".
