the earth's shadow moves
up the chimney

I like the play with chill and chimney, and shadows, in fact THE shadow, planet earth.

Was this the day of the eclipse?

A good strong haiku moving away from traditional subjects.

    Thanks everyone for your responses!

DarKmr your writing reminds me of this:

    winter light
    a brick's shadow falls
    on the next brick

    sunset thru the naked limbs
    lace shivers at the barnside

Martin, I'm so glad my scribbled thoughts prodded your memory! Too, I like -a brick's shadow falls-. Brick by brick, brick on brick... or word on word... 'tis an art.

Great haiku, full of the space of time. Great response and discussion too.

    Space and time and shadows...
what more could one ask for?
    There's something almost spooky
    about this, Martin...good work!
    ;)

Martin, I always enjoy your haiku. This one is a winner! In addition, it was posted on my birthday.

    I keep stepping
    on your shadow
    the yellow leaves fall.
