at dusk
    the autumn wind behind
               closed windows

    dusk
    a crow flies low
    out of the barn

I've been trying to find the right words to express something similar. Well done. Don't worry; I won't steal it. ;)

Robert, I like the sensation you've shown, and I'll add:

    panes rattle...
    above the wind
    a tea kettle shrieks

I'm not quite sure where I am in this one. I mean this as praise. Offbeat and haunting.

    autumn eve-
    being the ant
    harvesting honeydew secretion

A good autumn tell-tale, Robert. I know that cold rattle.

The sound of the autumn wind
is the harbinger. Close the window.
    Hold me.

Interesting, but I keep wanting to read it as:

at dusk—the autumn wind from behind closed windows

i'd fought the ku being a tad misleading. "behind" brings to mind, the wind opposite the front side of the closed windows(inside). hahaha
with this conception, a fulfilment of the methodic haiku; speak of the false(truth) as though it's true(false)

yet, i fear this not being the author's intent
    -

    (keeping with the author's words)

    closed windows--
    at dusk
    the autumn wind

_But, as a visitor in that cafe "one can easily see life beyond the cafe windows..." as Robert had written.
_Isn't it relative? If you wear a mask a face is behind the mask; when looking at a mask being worn... is it not true that a face is behind the mask?

    through the window
    this cat watches the mouse
    a closed door

*Where is the cat? Where is the mouse?*

    Good haibun, Robert! _M

    ahhh _m
relative nor abstract, nor in anything we understand is there a true absolute; mere degrees of truths and falsehoods.
is there a face behind the mask, conceivable; but, too often the face is the mask, and vice versa.
when saying "isn't it", no, it isn't.

question raised, where is the cat, there; and where is the mouse, over there; be they alive, dead, a dream, or in-between. ;-)
