Ah, I remember mannequins as quite sinister, first in the British series The Avengers, a spy-fi British television series created in the 1960s, followed by Dr Who.
Glad you turned it around, reminds me now of the romantic US film Mannequin, a 1987 romantic comedy fantasy film starring Andrew McCarthy, Kim Cattrall, and James Spader.
Ha! Good one, John. I too was spooked by mannequins for the very reason that Alan has mentioned (TV has a lot to answer for! :) ) I particularly disliked those in Dr Who who I seem to remember had a finger that flicked up/down to reveal a gun. Perhaps it was even scarier because I was growing up in Northern Ireland.
I still think I'd freak out if one winked at me, though! :)
