moonless sky
so much darkness
from my pen

    Very fresh.

I like the writer connecting the moon with the pen.

    This haiku struck me viscerally.
I would have said "into" or "upon" my pen, but Josh says "from", which makes me think harder and longer about the effect of the night upon the writer, upon his writing, and about the writer's confidence in writing.

    inky night
    blotches
    scratches

..Infinite night flows from the pen, the mystery of the human soul, the seperation from source, the biblical Word - centrifugalsville (no claustrophobic centripetal servility here!)..

    (word perfect:)

David - thank you for your sensitive reading.

Helen - glad you felt it.

    Johnny, you're too bad...thanks bro'

Lary - i'll take 'unusual' as a compliment from the mistress of juxtaposition...

Bret - i can just hear the anti-Julie Andrews singing "a spoonful of haiku makes the darkness go down..."

    moonless night
    something crawls
    across the road

josh, you epitomize that which many seek relief from. there's a bond between yours and m. sharif's "still pond". when confronted, many flee this moment posthaste, dreading to look back; or simply surrender, overlooking the inherent. not realizing it takes a brooding to enhance the light; and vice versa. to understand, share it...
