barefoot
on the hot road–
shadow stepping stones
5:59 a.m.
woodpecker drums metallic pole —
already late
–
dreamer’s morning –
healthy breakfast
walk to work
first light
a chirp followed by
a flurry of chirps
The shade of a fly
was flying concomitantly
around all six shadows
commuter traffic stalled –
golden-red rimmed dark clouds
over the ocean
