I wrote my first haiku in April, 2001, and started, of course, to write in my native language, publishing a couple of haiku "pamphlets" on my own RIVER MAN publ. co. In March of 2003 I wrote my first haiku in English, and haven't looked back since; i now write DIRECTLY into English.

a grasshopper
on my kitchen wall
when’s lunch?
So many lights and shades…
only a single tear

This is one of the most moving and beautiful haiku I have read in a long time.

in the midst of the rain —
these are mine
full moon
dances in the sea
all night long
birds fly high
and ants scurry on the wall
hot bright day
under higher
magnification
