each morn
pet dog beats me
to the news
in plastic-
the morning paper
waits in the puddle
morning newspaper!
back to bed
with more coffee
with his dog he walks
clutching his newspaper
early morning
day without
a newspaper –
open cabin door, a green world
–
oak firewood
stacked in the corner –
lifeless, laptop on the counter
–
fog filled valley
black-cap titmouse’s silence –
dawn, latest breaking news
geese are free to vee
frost settles on my petals
dew is through
unscrolled parchment
the wrinkled finger points
to the text
cool sunrise
doves cooing
another day, right on time
