  1. On May 17, 2005, I met Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India to present to him some of my poetry books. Dr Kalam is a well known scientist, and poet too. After spending some 45 minutes with him and talking about poetry and haiku, I had a sense of history in making.
Days later, I composed the following haiku, recalling the moments of loneliness in the huge Rashtrapati Bhavan:

    Busy but lonely
    the visonary scientist
    President Kalam

  2. another take on lonliness. your piece is very
    nicely done.

    happy hour
    fifteen empty barstools
    separate the two

  3. Nicely done Alice. Thanks for sharing.

    And RK Singh,

Abdul Kalam was a rocket engineer, not a scientist, and calling someone who was responsible for India going nuclear as a visionary is deplorable.

  4. grain of sand
wave after wave ‘gainst the shore
    too numerous to count

long & short of it all–
    circle of life thing
