I really enjoy coming back to this haiku!
It is one of those rare instances where the ‘ing‘ works as it should.
This is one of those haiku that should go into whatever is the next major global haiku anthology.
You need haiku that can be read and read, and then read again, and have more than just “surface depth”.

summer storm
far into the night–
