The drama of it all made real!
'frost' is unusual. I keep expecting it to read as 'frosty night' but 'frost night' is eerier so it works.

SAD TO SAY, BUT I THINK IT MEANS BECAUSE IT IS SO COLD, THAT MANY OLDER AND SICK ANIMALS WHO LIVE OUTSIDE WILL DIE THAT NITE.

Gave me chills, that one!
we had two reads – evidently different than the ones above.
her breath is showing and it reminds her of the last breaths of friends who have passed.
she was enjoying being out there so much, she resisted the impulse to make this her last breath, and stayed out longer.
think 'frosty' works better.
Great. Chilling but also a tribute to the power of poetry to grant perspective.
