We invite you to contribute/submit to the next issue of tinywords, 20.2.
This is the 20th anniversary of the start of tinywords in the fall of 2000, so we’re especially excited about this issue!
Please send your best, preferably unpublished work. We’re looking for haiku, tanka and other tiny poems, brief tanka prose and brief haibun. From traditional to cutting edge. Quality is the common denominator. So touch us, startle us, make us see the world anew. We’re also interested in haiga and other art that combines very short poems with art. Be creative. That’s what we’re here for.
We’ll read previously published submissions (please provide details), but we prefer new work. Appearance on a personal blog or Twitter account, or in an online workshop, is no problem. We will respond within a few weeks (by the end of September at the latest) so please, no simultaneous submissions.
Please use the form below to submit your work. You can submit multiple works (poems or haiga) in one submission, or submit each one separately, but no more than 5 works per author in total.
Deadline: August 31, 2020. Submissions must be received by 6 p.m. Pacific time.
If you put more than one poem in the form, please separate the poems with *** or —- or something besides just spaces and paragraph returns, so we can tell where one poem ends and the next one begins.
If you want to submit haiga, photos, paintings, or other media, please include a URL where we can find the image.
Please log in first, if you can. If you have an author account here, please log in here before submitting. If you’ve been published on tinywords before, you already have an author account! It’s linked to your e-mail address. And don’t worry if you’ve forgotten your password; you can request a new one on that login page.
Also, you can easily create an author account on tinywords if you don’t already have one.
Note: Some people have had difficulty verifying their accounts or logging in. If you run into trouble, go ahead and submit your poems as a “guest,” without logging in. Just make sure to give us your name and email address in the submission form below — and please double-check that your email address is correct.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation when your submission has been received. If you don’t, something has gone wrong and your submission is not in our queue.
Ask us at email@example.com if you need help. We don’t accept submissions by email, but we’ll do our best to help you if we can.
Poets published on tinywords retain copyrights to their work. However, by submitting your work to tinywords, you are giving us nonexclusive rights to publish it on this site, to distribute it via electronic media, and to republish it in print or online collections.
We give preference to work that hasn’t been previously published. But if it has been published before, please make a note of prior publications along with your submission.
