We invite you to contribute/submit to the next issue of tinywords, 23.1.

Please send your best, preferably unpublished work. We’re looking for haiku, tanka and other tiny poems, brief tanka prose and brief haibun. From traditional to cutting edge. Quality is the common denominator. So touch us, startle us, make us see the world anew. We’re also interested in haiga and other art that combines very short poems with art. Be creative. That’s what we’re here for.

We’ll read previously published submissions (please provide details), but we prefer new work. Appearance on a personal blog or Twitter account, or in an online workshop, is no problem. We will respond within a few weeks (by the end of September at the latest) so please, no simultaneous submissions.

Please use the form below to submit your work.

Deadline: February 28, 2023. Submissions must be received by 6 p.m. Pacific time.

1. If you want to submit multiple works (poems or haiga), please put all of them into a single submission (do not submit each one separately). Separate the items with *** or —- or something besides spaces and paragraph returns, so we can tell where one poem ends and the next one begins.

2. If you want to submit haiga, photos, paintings, or other media, please include a URL where we can find each image.

3. Please submit no more than 5 works per author.

4. Log in first, if you can. If you have an author account here, please log in here before submitting. If you’ve been published on tinywords before, you already have an author account! It’s linked to your e-mail address. And don’t worry if you’ve forgotten your password; you can request a new one on that login page. Also, you can easily create an author account on tinywords if you don’t already have one.

5. Once you have logged in, return to this page to submit your work. You should see a “welcome back” message just above the form below.

6. If you run into trouble, go ahead and submit your poems as a “guest,” without logging in. Just make sure to give us your name and email address in the submission form below — and please double-check that your email address is correct.

You will receive an e-mail confirmation when your submission has been received.

Ask us at if you need help. We don’t accept submissions by email, but we’ll do our best to help you if we can.
