in autumn colors
nu jazz
hitting my ring against
half filled glasses
champagne bubbles
fizzling
as the raspberry sinks
the aging legend
hits the wrong notes
with a smile
bubbly waitress
he drinks his coffee
black
on the rocks –
clear vodka, no green lime
in his tired shaky hand
