Thanks, Ed, A clear image. I feel the white glow of the moonflowers doing their part to replace the larger glow of the vanquished lighthouse. From another trip to the past. Kansas ghost town we pose on the rubble of grandfather’s school Reply

Kansas ghost town
we pose on the rubble
of grandfather’s school
cracking blacktop
a memory of
blackberries
broken brick
jutting up through the grass —
field of daisies
–
dead widow’s
bamboo bells
how forlorn the sound has become
breathing air
washed by water
life renews
Outside, birch leaves rustle in the wind. Inside are kind and smiling eyes.
a lighthouse
in the sea breeze
faint stars
in the sky
where the harvest moon loomed–
greying snow clouds
