star filled night–
a wandering coyote
sleeps in a trash can

My name is Mary Chapman; I am married and the mother of three boys. I have always enjoyed reading poetry. My interest was sparked while in High School. We were challenged by an English teacher to write a love poem. It was not until recently that I became interested in haiku. I also write short stories and poetry. My favorite all time poet is Edgar Allen Poe.

starry night
bright moon still
attracts me more
starry night
a cloud confiscates
the waning moon
A shooting star-
the wandering coyote
cries out in one’s sleep
black filled night —
scripture read
by candle light
country skyâ€â€
are these stars here
every night
Starry, starry night
Flying squirrels thread among the
Gems within the boughs
late evening hunger pangs
leaving drive thru window–
4, no 5 five stray cats
