  1. I am adopted.
    Says it all to me.
    Kept our cat tho’

Not in Haiku, it did suddenly make me tear up, thinking of how badly my parents wanted a child.

  2. Sitting in church
    at the nursing home
    remembering you
    with a full heart
    Mother’s Day

I’m sorry that this evoked sadness for some of you. It was meant to be amusing. My husband and I–and other couples I know–lavish our dogs with the attention that would otherwise be bestowed upon children. I confess that I’ve attended dog birthday parties.

  4. tree that turned gold
    during her last illness
    is green again–

  5. Hi Melissa,

We live in a small town and many of the dogs know me now, including four labradors of various ages. Just saw one of my good buddies on my walk this morning. My sister’s dog was such a good friend to our mother too and is most certainly one of my dear nephews!
