Marion Clarke is a poet and visual artist from Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland. She has been studying and writing haiku for over a decade and her work features regularly in international journals. Winner of two Sakura awards in the the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku Contest, and shortlisted in the Touchstone Awards, Clarke's poetry is included by invitation in two national collections of haiku from the island of Ireland.

Heartbreaking.
I've been reading a lot of haiku and tanka dealing with the tough issues in our lives.
Thank you for your well wishes, Alan. It is indeed a tough time for my youngest sister at the minute and this monostich was published yesterday just as she was returning from her second chemo session.

Bernadette, I have only come across your comment now as I am updating my blog 'about me' page and thought I'd put up a few monoku published here on tinywords. Sorry to hear you have had a similar experience. As you know, Niamh passed away last September and there's not a day I don't think of her. Coincidentally, her husband has just been her to collect my daughter as she is spending the night with her younger cousins. This haiku feels like it was written a million light years away now…
