breaking drought— from cupped hands the child tastes the sky
—Mark Miller
Issue 15.2 | 23 October 2015
love this ku. I've never forgotten the end of a long drought here. When we drove down the road there were children dancing on the footpath in the rain… sheer joy small dancers in the rain
Breathtaking!
"tastes the sky" is a powerful last line, and it's entirely appropriate to the theme of the poem.
Best, Bill Kenney
So nice.
Nicely done! Wonderful clear imagery that opens into layers of meaning. This is what I love about successful haiku! Very lovely!
Beautiful work.
a dear little poem honoring rain's attempt to end the California drought
