snowflakes falling
past the window.

Final prayers
smoke
hanging in the air.
Mowing the lawn –
spring’s first daisy peeking
through the grass.
My roses budding –
this year I won’t be here
to see them bloom.
Fluorescent blue:
nigella
on a rainy day.
Zazen –
dew fading
on the car windows.
4:30PM –
frost, still,
on the pavement.
After the argument –
quiet
when I walk in the room.
Quiet evening,
reading –
the baby breathing on the monitor.
