traces of confetti

suitcases by the door
his clothes on the floor …
honeymoon is over
wedding finery
his clothes on hers
in the hotel suite
winter afternoon, a sunday
she leaves the bedroom
he says, “by the way…”
in her hand, she returns with a beer
honeymoon over
new apartment
she bruises her shins
against his suitcase
bruised feelings
new words of affection …
love vacates the (premises)
new apartment
from his little black book
she rips several pages
an autumn downpour ///
through the door
she hears his confession
telling herself
not to look back at the past
she prepares rump steak
late autumn meal for two
neither plate is eaten from …
alone
I think we’ve about done our dash with this one. It’s been fun. Would you be happy for me to send it as a sequence to paper wasp (Aus).
Pat
pat, it would be an honor
“a gift for all seasons”; to patricia prime
time of thanksgiving
the tree seems bare …
fear of the approaching year
my winter
the best lacks being material
eternal joy
her extended friendship
