  1. As one who has worn out a few clocks myself, I really appreciate this.

    pinochle and bocce
    on an autumn evening
    the old men gather

  3. Thanks, Angelika…
this was written for a friend of mine…
and I bet she has plenty of years left!

    Georgia, thank you so much!

Hi Susan…yep, the Hut is well represented
    this month!

    Hi Bill!
Your haiku has so much feeling…
    long may the games continue!

    Thanks, Myron…
ah yes…this path is indeed long — and winding
(and uphill much of the time!).

  4. After my grief for my mother healed, I began helping with a church service and then a Bible study at a nursing home. The residents have lived through so much and the rivers run deep. My great-aunt, Mercedes Schwanke, lived to be almost 100. Her mind clear and her spirit strong.

  5. I’ve an aunt, 94… she “takes care” of her sister… 97. The -kid- niece drops in daily to check on them, the kid is a mere… 87.
_I guess all our clocks start on a sunrise basis… and we hope to be that acitve and positive… as the numbers mount.
    -Wonderful lines Lary_! tnx -M

Ellen and Magyar, thanks for sharing your
    experiences…
I’m often amazed at the resilience of these
elderly folks — it gives one hope!

    Hi Alan,
    thank you very much!

Hi Bob…I find your haiku very moving —
it deserves to be published on its own!

    :-)
