I love that first line! I’ve been there in the past. Enjoyed the whole haiku as well of course! ;-) Reply
Dear Ann your beautiful haiku remind me about Jules Verne: Going to the middle of the earth… the Island’s mountains covered by the snow Reply
ann, your words bring “gloomy sunday” to mind. “sunday is gloomy, my hours are slumberless dearest the shadows i live with are numberless little white flowers will never awaken you…” – this being sunday, it rained all day. the super bowl’s here in miami, and my team didn’t play. – tinselling of rain– i look for the moon where it was last night Reply
A lovely haiku…a great sense of space and atmosphere. (I also enjoyed your winning haiku in January’s Shiki Monthly Kukai!) :-) Lary Reply

Dear Ann
your beautiful haiku remind me about Jules Verne:
Going to the middle of the earth…
the Island’s mountains covered
by the snow
A striking image of a planet we scarcely know, called Earth.
