You have captured the nature and essence of love and successful domesticity for me here Sheila. The flow and breaks in this poem remind me of a kitchen conversation ranging from the mundane to the extraordinary – and a long marriage is indeed extraordinary. What scents and flavours and warm feelings these bare lines evoke! The comforting staple of a favourite soup and the comfortable sharing of thoughts and encounters with one's partner in life at the kitchen table are both conjured up here. Thank you for reminding me this Valentines Day what true love aims at and what real romance consists of – a long story of rekindled fires, shared meals, conversations, and adventures together.

Excellent use of the two sections of a haiku expanding beyond the sum of the words.
