    Dear Michael,

Good allusion to the famous haikai verse, and subtle use of crescent moon which could be read as centuries old issues between the West and Islam:

    autumn deep
    the neighbor, what
    is it he does?

    Basho translated verse©William J. Higginson
    Paterson Pieces: Poems, 1969-1979

    aki fukaki
    autumn deep

    tonari wa
    neighbor

    nani o
    what

    suru hito zo
    to do person?

Basho and transliteration of his haikai verse

    Excellent haiku!

    warm regards,

    Alan
