Vanessa Proctor is a past president of the Australian Haiku Society. She has been writing haiku for over 30 years. Her haiku, as well as appearing in print and online, has been carved in stone, printed on tea bag labels and set to music. Her latest publication is a book of free verse 'On Wonder' Walleah Press, 2024.

Downsizing is often a sensible career move, and sunflowers make me think of a land where humans are tiny, or should humble themselves so.
A bronze vase makes me think of the ancient Greeks but where Socratic humility is made into humiliation by people in power.

I'm not suggesting this is in this haiku, just what I also see. As someone with a bigger home but wanting to downsize everything that has accumulated, the simple pleasure of fresh flowers far outweigh a hundred stacking cases! :-)
