Welcome to tinywords issue 24.2

The background image for our newest issue is a photo by Melodie Mesiano taken at the Storm King Art Center in Orange County, New York with Mark Di Suvero’s sculpture “Jambalaya” in the foreground.  Jambalaya, the traditionally Southern dish, is a savory Cajun or Creole rice meal made with a variety of proteins and vegetables. As this sculpture is a pleasing combination of elements — just like a good batch of jambalaya. An appropriate background for this engaging mix of poets, poems and images from around the world. We hope you find tinywords 24.2 to be a fulfilling read.

Congratulations to our writing prompt winner, Claudette Russell, whose poem appears below. Please be sure to scroll through and enjoy all the poems offered in response to Lopi LaRoes’ mural, “Beginner’s Mind.” Thanks again to our Assistant Editors, Polona Oblak and Ruth Holzer, and to Dylan Tweney, founding editor and Technical Director, who keeps tinywords humming along season to season.

Fall is upon us here in the northern hemisphere, so grab a sweater if you need one and enjoy the poetry of a worldwide community of poets who have generously shared their work for tinywords 24.2.

With gratitude,

Peter Newton and Kathe L. Palka
