Submissions open for Issue 25.2 – and a new prompt

TINYWORDS 25.1 came to a close with Joanne Morcom’s haiku “ghost town”. We will take a pause while we read submissions for the next issue, 25.2, that will begin in late September.

Submissions to TINYWORDS 25.2 were open AUGUST 1-31, 2025.

Sending regular submissions to TINYWORDS is a simple two-step process. Just check out our guidelines and send in your work using the form on the Submissions Page during the month of August.  Please send us your haiku, tanka, small poems, haiga, or brief haibun. No more than five pieces in total during the reading period.

In the meantime, we’ve chosen a new writing prompt: A photo image by Mike Searle (above) of the ivy-covered castle ruin of Ardintenant, also known as White Castle, in County Cork, Ireland. Built around 1310, the ruin bears witness to the longevity of human endeavors and to the ability of mother earth to reclaim them.

We hope this image will inspire you to build a lasting poem of your own. Please leave your best efforts in response to the photo prompt in the comment box below and the TINYWORDS editorial team will share the winner(s) that will kick off our next issue.

Again, TINYWORDS 25.2, will start up in late September, 2025. (And until then, we will not be publishing daily haiku.)

Thanks again for dropping by. We look forward to reading your work.

All best,

The TINYWORDS team

    NOTE:
Irish ivy, scientifically known as Hedera hibernica, is a fast-growing, evergreen climber native to Ireland and parts of Britain. It’s known for its dark green, glossy leaves and its ability to cover walls, fences, and ground surfaces. It’s a hardy plant that can thrive in various conditions, including sun or shade and different soil types.
