Perhaps it is a matter of local dialect, but I am particularly intrigued by the use of "foam" to colloquially describe what in Australia might have been called "froth". Foam for me evokes the sea, bubbles on the top of waves. Perhaps the work stories are between mariners, fishermen or harbour workers? An excellent and evocative poem.
