Ah, yes, that new year feel with both a diary, and a year planner! But a blank canvas can be as exciting as it is daunting. Neat poem!
'doing life' could be read as planning out one's life, medical/dental check ups etc or it could be a prisoner in a cell staring at a calendar that will remain filled with nothing. Clever!
