J. Zimmerman is a poet, essayist, and critic. She was the first poet-in-residence for the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music. With Gregory Longenecker she authored the Frogpond article "A Disarmingly Simple Challenge: The Buson One Hundred" and is thrilled at how many poets have taken "The Buson One Hundred Challenge" to write ten haiku a day for one hundred days. Her article "Gender of Poets Winning Haiku and Senryu Contests" will appear in a 2019 issue of Presence.
