The tides in the Adriatic, like most of the Mediterranean, are more or less insignificant though slightly more pronounced at the northern end. However, from the window of a hospital room overlooking the Gulf of Trieste (I was the visitor) one could discern the changes of the tide by the movement of ships at anchor outside the port of Koper.

Oh! This describes perfectly the movement of a freighter I see here twice a day on the lough. Lovely.

I really like this one–love the slow, quiet power captured here. Very well crafted. :)
