Just goes to show, there is a home for every poem…this one was rejected by Simply Haiku, Acorn, Modern Haiku, Heron's Nest (although shortlisted), Cattails, Frogpond, Hundred Gourds, Shamrock, World Haiku Review, Frozen Butterfly, Moongarlic, Wild Plum and Noon…never give up on a poem you believe in…
I can relate! Years ago one poem was rejected many times and ended up winning a couple of awards. Another one rejected as not a haiku by a prominent haiku magazine was snatched up in under 20 minutes by a Japanese haiku column because it had a relevant seasonal reference.
Some haiku I keep for up to five years, whether revised or not. Patience and perseverance can work.
sheltering

It's rare in my book for a haiku starting with a two line phrase and ending with a single word for the last line to succeed, but your's does. Congratulations on both counts.
