shallow stream
we cross a bridge
of stars

winter roses ?
trying to remember
trying to forget
stone
by stone, the river
widens
daybreak the cold edge of the bed
summer’s end —
the secrets we wrote
in the sand
breaking the skin
of an overripe peach
harvest moon
all-night diner ?
scrying my future
in a coffee cup
hospice bed
each breath
a lifetime
sheltering
against the dawn . . .
thistledown
her scars
deeper than bone . . .
winter solstice
shrapnel scars
her fingers tracing
Orion
summer twilight
the sound of waves
turning inward
wiping sand
from the broken conch . . .
summer’s end
