Great opening phrase to a haiku, both very atmosphere, and a change from a single line opening a haiku followed by a phrase. Wonder tension between the two parts and as Guy said, the poignancy too, and understated but flowing through the poem.
I only have this autumn haiku to do with the pages of a book!

I like that. It brings back memories of many summer moments?and of many books read. The poignancy too.
