growing
at an angle
winter sapling
summer gossip
the endless song
of cicadas
pruning –
the spring sun
widens its reach
morning fishing
we circle around
the same subjects
our back and forth
the icicle lengthens
drop by drop
morning light
painting over
my painting
cut flowers
the short life
of compliments
mother’s eulogy
finally I tell her
what she wanted to hear
homesick —
the same ingredients
tasting different
