empty magnolia seed pods
slide down the roof

watching statuesque grey squirrel
watching me –
trying not to move
autumn flower bed~
two squirrels squeal as
butterflies dance air
sunlight brings breeze~
sparrows glisten cool notes
a lone leaf falls
lovers wade light~
the cherry blossom breeze
flutters humming-birds
feeding time
dove fledglings flapping wings —
cat runs off with squab
–
in response to your haiku, one question,
so what?
morning mist
the acrid scent
of burnt toast
speckle fledgling
new to flight–
never to return to now empty nest
