I rarely do dogs in haiku, despite Spot the dog (yes, kids really named him Spot) adopting me while I was living in Queensland. He was great, but silly, used to chase cars head on in the country. Here' a happy memory of him:
on hind legs
licking the nose of the foal
a fox terrier pup

Hi Susan,
I really like your haiku!

on hind legs
licking the nose of the foal
