cleaning my rifle–
my dog’s ears
uplifted
his brother’s new bike–
looking down
at his tricycle
mud puddle–
the little boy’s
bare feet
the boy’s thumb
in his mouth–
the carpenters grin
ball three–
the manager’s foot
on the dugout steps
game preserve
newly-planted trees–
these empty drink cans
music box–
an old man holding
his wedding picture
sunrise at camp
herons in flight–
I raise my coffee cup
still snowing!
can’t see where I walked
last night
