what we wished for
light years ago
snowed in
deep white drifts
quilt the night
lighting cigarettes
from each other’s cigarettes
the slow setting sun
midnight thunderstorm
her face in the lightning flash
suddenly closer
the heavy worm
twisting between my fingers
